Commanders and Front Staff
Chief Brian Sturgeon leads the West St. Paul Police Department. He was appointed the top role by City Manager Schroeder after long-time Chief Bud Shaver retired in May of 2019. Chief Sturgeon has been with the West St. Paul Police Department since 1989. Most recently, before taking on the role of Chief, Brian Sturgeon worked as Operational Lieutenant for the department since 2006.
The West St. Paul Police Department has two Lieutenants. Lieutenants report directly to the Chief and lead Sergeants and officers in everyday activities.
