[ARCHIVED] A Fresh Take on Second-Hand in West St. Paul

In the fall of 2023, Eco Chico opened its doors at Signal Hills Shopping Center, bringing a breath of fresh air to the world of kids’ resale. In just six months, the dream of a local entrepreneur turned into a beautifully curated shop with a mission: to make sustainable parenting more convenient— and even delightful.

Eco Chico is more than just a second-hand store. It’s a space built with love, care, and a deep belief in community and the planet. The shop buys and sells gently used kids’ clothing (sizes NB to Juniors), maternity wear, baby gear, eco-friendly home goods, artisan gifts, and more. While they generally don’t carry toys, furniture, or large equipment, what they do offer is a thoughtful and easy resale experience—with a consignment process that's faster and simpler than most.

The moment you step into Eco Chico, you’ll notice it’s not your typical resale shop. The space is thoughtfully designed to be inviting for both parents and kids. Young shoppers can read books in the lounge or push pint-sized carts as they explore, while parents appreciate the neatly organized racks, clean atmosphere, and friendly service. With ample parking, a utility cart for easy drop-offs, and same-day buy processing in most cases, Eco Chico has become a fast favorite among busy families.

Eco Chico is proudly owned and operated by Krystell, a Mendota Heights residents and mom of three, who first discovered West St. Paul while volunteering during college. An immigrant from southeast Mexico, she and her husband Benjamin, who currently operates their insurance business in West St. Paul, now dedicate their time to local business and family life, raising their sons and giving back to the community.

In less than two years, Eco Chico has already made a mark. The store has been featured on local news, received glowing customer feedback, and even earned invites to baby showers from grateful shoppers. “It’s been humbling and empowering,” Krystell shares. “We love serving this amazing community.”

If you haven’t stopped in yet, now is the perfect time. Eco Chico’s summer inventory is out, and they accept gently used items year-round.
